On July 6th, some people from Seattle were visiting Point No POint Resort on the southern coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. when their 10 month old black lab, Boujie, ran off. The people looked for a while but then returned home. Boujie was spotted in the area a couple of times but always ran away. Boujie is extremely frightened of people.

The owners came back one more day a week later, and even spotted her around midnight, but then returned to Seattle and have now given up on her and no longer looking wtf

Meanwhile, dozens of people living all over the island are still out searching for her, and many more of us are emailing B&Bs in the area, contacting friends, and doing whatever we can do from a distance.

Today, there was a sighting again!!! She appears to be wandering along the bushy/rocky shore line at low tide between the resort and the next cove over. A rescue group is attempting to locate some live traps in the area (the owners originally rejected the idea of live traps, but since they are now out of the picture..... kissmyass)

Please, please, please send all your positive vibes for Boujie to go to safety - to either let a human help her or to enter one of the traps. It's been two weeks now - please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Poor baby. What a beauty she is. It's so cool that so many peolple are trying to help rescue her. When they do catch her are they going to contact the owners? I hope not they don't deserve to have her back since they gave up so easily.

Sending tons of please let the humans help you {{{vibes}}} Boujie.

Point no point is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I'm glad the locals are so wonderful. Too bad about the owners. I hope they catch her soon. Poor girl. She sure has a sweet face!

Boujie is still at large.

Unfortunately, because the primary searcher - the one who is buying a live trap, who has been there daily looking, who has arranged with a neighbouring property to put out bait stations, who has coordinated having posters put up absolutely everywhere - because that searcher said something on our rescue forum about the owner giving up, and because someone from the local pound told the owner what was said, the owner has emailed the primary searcher to tell her she is not "authorized" to search for Boujie, that she is to butt out and leave it to the pound to find Boujie.

Right, like they have the resources to be out there searching every day.

The owner also says she will be coming back up in about a week, with a trainer, to try to find her.
Fortunately, the primary searcher is NOT letting this stop her. The most important thing is to find Boujie, not someone's hurt or embarrassed feelings.

Again, if you know anyone in the area or visiting the area please ask them to look out for this dog. It has been 18 days now.

ok, what a horrible horrible owner. If it were my dog, I'd be giving that woman who's helping all the support I could manage to find (I also would not have 'given up' on finding my dog).

I hope the poor doggy girl gets to safety soon.

Can an owner can "authorize" or not "authorize" another person to look/not look for their dog? Seems to me a loose dog is out there for anyone to try to catch. KEEPING a found dog is a different matter, but I don't think there are rules/laws about catching a loose dog... In fact, in areas where there are leash laws, catching a loose dog might be considered doing your civic duty...

It has been over a month since Boujie went missing. For about the last two weeks there had been no more sightings, nor was there any word from the owners. The rescue people on Vancouver Island kept right on searching.

THEN.... a sighting was reported a couple of days ago...then another...this morning another!!!! She has moved quite some distance from the original spot (about 20 km I think) but - good news - closer to a residential area. Yesterday's sighting was by someone who saw her in the yard playing with her own dogs - but she ran off when the human stepped outside.

With this morning's sighting it appears she is getting pretty desperate - she is terribly thin and seems very weak. Rescuers are converging on the area and hoping to bring her to safety ---- please, please, please send positive vibes, prayers, whatever is in your heart, to guide her to safety today.

Heather, she was orginally from a rescue organization in the States and purportedly had a history of abuse. Then her adopter moved from one state to another. Then took her on vacation to another strange place. Poor thing - she's only ten months old, and likely has had no chance to really feel at home anywhere. Between the abuse, probably lack of socialization during the critical stages, being fairly recently adopted, and moved about since then....it's no wonder she's scared.

Sending my strongest get found today vibes for her.

When she's found, will she be returned to that owner, the one that stopped looking for her?

We believe that she can now be considered abandoned. In that case, she would either go back to the original rescue or receive fostering and adoption through a rescue here.

Poor girlie. Are they going to try to live trap her? I would think if she's hungry enough that might work?

Boujie is still out there, and there have been no sightings the last few days. A couple of animal communicators and a psychic have been providing assitance. Between them and the sightings and the tracking dog who is working with the rescue, we are pretty sure she is somewhere in the vicinity of an old mill and an old warship which is resting there.

The so-called owners who lost her and have not been heard from in weeks refused to send an items with Boujie's scent on it, so the tracking dog (Abby) is working in a bit of a state of limbo - this dog is very experienced at finding lost dogs and would likely have found her a long time ago had the "owners" done as requested.

Abby, the tracking dog, became highly agitated in the area of the warship and totally ignored the rabbits (which she normally loves to chase) but could not seem to hone in on where Boujie is hiding. It is over forty days now - we know her time is very short and she must be found very soon.

At 5:30 Pacific Daylight Time today (Sunday), Jill, Gary and their dog Abby will be down at the warship listening and watching for her. They are asking that everyone concentrate their efforts at that time, to get Boujie to show herself or to make a sound so she can be located. We need this to happen - we need Boujie to "hear" that Jill is nearby, that Jill will help her, but that she (Boujie) needs to help Jill find her.

One of the communicators suggests we not use the word "caught" in our thoughts as we know she is very afraid of being "caught" - just focus on helping her to reach out to Jill by either showing herself or making a sound. The dog Abby will hear her if she whimpers, even if the humans cannot.

We do a Remembrance Ceremony every Monday, and I'm adding Boujie and her story to the list. It goes to over 300 elkhound people and we are all convinced that our efforts at sending "moosedog magic" work. I hope this helps, I wish I could go look for her myself, this breaks my heart....

Thank you Jean, I really appreciate you adding Boujie to the list. Yesterday's search was not successful.

The good news is she has been spotted four times in the last nine days, and she is now close to a residential area whereas before she was miles away from one. Hopefully, she is finding some food somewhere. Each report says she looks painfully thin though.

Here's hoping moosedog magic will help bring her to safety.
