I was just wondering if anyone has read that book by Wendy Volhard and Kerry Brown, DVM called Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog?

I used to use some of the feeding guidelines or my gang, years ago when I was doing raw and wasn't satisfied with how meat-only was keeping my working dogs. It's been around a while and some of the information is a bit dated.

I own a copy. It's a useful reference; I don't base my diet on Volhard, but a friend of mine does and her dogs have done well for more than a decade.

So far I am finding it to be an interesting book. Looks like it is a newer edition with meat and grains for the diets. I am not interested in feeding her diets, just reading up on nutrition in general.
Is it really true that it takes kibble up to 16 hours to digest in a dog's stomach, semimoist food sold in boxes takes up to 9 hours and raw only takes about 4 1/2 hours? I always wondered how long it took for the food to be digested by never seem to remember to ask the vet.
Also, I thought it was really weird to soak raw meats and veggies in a small amount of bleach and water for a set amount of time and then soak/rinse in fresh water in order to kill bacteria and draw toxins out. To be fair they said you could also use grapeseed extract. I don't know, just seems out there to me. Anyone do that?
