We had a small show in Staten Island today (we got to travel a whole 11 miles to get there - we were early for like the first time ever wink There were only four IGs, 3 boys including my two, and a girl.

The judge liked Perry a lot, and gave us Winners Dog and then Best of Opposite - 2 more points for us! We might have done ever better, had Perry shown his ears but he (and Marc) acted like they were plastered to his head. No matter, I'm very proud. And Marco actually showed like a normal dog - no flying pulling or jumping off the table. I'm even prouder of him because just two shows ago him acting normal seemed like mission impossible.

We also briefly met Dawn (yintzy) - there was a big agility thing going on right next to the conformation rings and she found us. I really didn't get to watch any agility, but it was fun seeing her tongue

ETA - yesterday I was thinking of leaving Perry home alltogether because he had an allergic reaction to something and his face blew up to twice its size. Poor guy was on benedryl all day. But the swelling went down considerably and he was pretty again this morning tongue

The boys looked great. I'm sorry I didn't get to see them in the ring. Yes, you came to agility during FAST. It's sort of boring. It was great to see you. We got to watch the shelties do conformation.

Yay Perry! And that's no small accomplishment for Marco either.

Good work!!

Conformation and points confuse me. I have just shown my friend's dogs in the spur of the moment instances and have had fun doing it..( the NOT my dog confidence and giggles there! wink ).

Bet Perry was happy to get to go!!

Hey...have you ever thought of putting his ears on cue? So that in times like you had mentioned about his ears..you could cue them to position? My friend does that with her dog. It is kinda cute...it works too. smile

sign_hijack

The few times we have played FAST in class it was fun. smile

hehe i wish other people would give me their dogs to handle. I would love some "not my dog" confidence tongue Actually in show class, we switched dogs last time I was there, and I got to trade Perry for a 50 lb teenage bulldog. It was certainly... different.

I do have sort of a cue for a free stack and ears. Both boys do an amazing job... when we practice in the kitchen. Somehow I haven't been able to transfer that to outside because they're not food motivated outdoors. I trained them to stare at my fist even if there's nothing in it... but we're weak on that command. And of course in the ring i always forget that we even have that command because I'm still a total newb. But at this point ears is really the only thing they're missing so i need to step it up a notch.

oh yeah and the points - I'm still getting it. I couldn't understand how all the classes work, and then meet up in Winners and then further meet up in BOB competition... until I got into the ring myself. Some things sound ridiculous until you actually get into it and see how it works.

Awesome! Sounds like the boys liked the combo of a short trip and fewer dogs. I know I would. smile
