We have a local trial on Staten Island this weekend. It was just me and Rigal. Our first run wasn't so good. He broke his stay and ran around the ring. I scooped him up and carried him out of the ring and put him in his crate which was ring side. He screamed all the way into the crate - he was soooooo mad.

The next run was standard. I brought his crate ringside again, so I can be consistent with him. If he jumps on me or tries to steal the cheese from the top of the crate or breaks any stay or warm up routine, he goes in the crate. This is a derivative of his lock down in our apartment so he knows the time out drill. He started offering sits for cheese!!!!!! This is the first time this dog hasn't defaulted to jumping up or peeing on things! Yayhooie!!!! Good boy! Getting closer to his turn on line, I could see him getting antsy and he started to jump and even though we were second in line, I brought him to the crate for a time-out. He was calm going into the ring and he stayed!!!!! I didn't do a huge lead out but usually I release him because I see him getting impatient, but he stayed and I released him when he was calm. I did warn the person behind us, we were leaving the ring if he broke his stay.

We ended up with a nice run. He was 6th place in 12" - 2 seconds away from placements - and he broke his table stay which cost us 2 seconds. Regardless, he got 17 MACH points so he was still fast. He didn't feel as fast because I wasn't playing catch up after a broken start. I'm very proud of my boy!

Wow, a big leap of progress for him. Good boy Rigal! We know it's hard to listen to the lady with those two ball bearings telling you to run around and pee on things.
