Why does each photo post tell you how many downloads there have been of that picture?

Just statistics I guess.

For photos this is automatic, since they are displayed each time a thread is loaded when someone clicks on it. For file uploads, people would actually have to click and download the file itself (e.g. a word document), since it doesn't load automatically.
