Here is a nice Sander's Book story, I will use Jean's thread to post it in:
Yesterday I came home from walking the Hooligans to find a neighbor, Mary, at my front door; she is about my age and has two shelter dogs (an English Mastiff and a really cool Chow-Irish Setter mix) and she bought two copies of Sander's Book a few weeks ago.
She came over to tell me that she had sent one copy to her mom, who has a dog (a tiny toy breed, I can't remember what kind), and her mom had just read the book and really liked it and was very moved by it -- and then her mom's dog wasn't well, and a vet visit determined that the dog has lymphoma.

And Mary's mom said that if she hadn't read Sander's Book, she would certainly have allowed the vet to euthanize the dog right then, but since she read S/B, she said no to that option and took her dog home and has started it on a raw diet and is looking into some of the other things that she can do to help the dog have a better and maybe a longer time.
So yay for Sander and his book! This woman knows that she can't expect a miracle cure for her dog, but it will make a huge difference that she has time to come to terms with this and that she can help her dog close out its life in a good fashion. The dog is already eating Amish-raised chicken and having a great time. Sander would approve (and would want some of that chicken)!
