Geez. Can you just imagine- 800 dogs in such a small space!!! I'm glad they were seized and have a chance of finding good homes!

I will NOT come home from Tucson with a new dog...I will NOT come home from Tucson with a new dog...I will NOT come home from Tucson with a new dog....do you think if I say it enough times it will sink in? Hopefully by the time I get there next month many of these poor dogs will have found homes.

I'm seeing signs everywhere I look that Jack needs a new dog. Unfortunately, I think my work travel schedule is going to be hectic this spring/summer and it's not fair to bring a new dog home if I'm going to be leaving town every month or so. But boy do I want one! The friend I'm visiting in Tucson is friends with the woman who runs Tucson Chihuahua rescue and is helping out with these dogs so I'm sure I'll get lots of updates...and hopefully lots of good news stories.

Fortunately...amazingly....all of the adoptable dogs from this seizure have new homes! More info here It's just so sad to think of that many dogs needing to be rescued and all from one location. It sucks for those dogs and for so many others as well. It's great that these dogs found homes so quickly, but now many dogs that might otherwise have been adopted, dogs that were already in shelters or foster care, are still waiting. Plus the resources that had to be diverted to this effort were enormous. They were estimating that they'd need $400K. I know they raised over $50K in a telethon but the rest has to come from somewhere. I believe the HS cancelled a pitbull spay day and who knows what else had to be pushed aside to mount this rescue effort.
